Japanese Bamboo Chasen Whisk for Tea Ceremony This is a vintage Japanese matcha tea whisk called chasen . It is crafted by hand from a single piece of bamboo and is a crucial utensil used in traditional Japanese tea ceremony ( sado ). It is a natural dried bamboo brown color and the outer band of the whisk is secured in place by black thread.
