Artisans shape each petal by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio, layering clay until the bloom catches light the way a real azalea does in late spring. Couples tend to hang it somewhere they'll actually see it daily, a bedroom wall or a reading nook, rather than store it away for a special occasion. The Getty Museum has acquired studio ceramics built on the same hand-finishing techniques Chive uses on every flower it makes. Two years in, most anniversary flowers are already compost; this one is only getting started.
