He was a Swedish painter, sculptor, print maker, stained glass artist and designer. Elfwén studied at Konstfack in Stockholm and at Edvin Oller's, Grünewald's and Otte Sköld's målarskolor (painting schools). He studied stained glass with Gabriel Loire in Chartres. His debut exhibition was in 1944 at Gummeson's Konsthall in Stockholm. (Note - expanded exhibition listing to follow shortly). His sculpture reliefs are installed in many public buildings, and he produced stained glass windows in several churchs and an altar sculpture i n Gamleby church in 1959.
