The plantation, at a suitable temperature in the tropics of Indonesia, bears high oil content. To reap the darkest colour leaves, they are handpicked between sunrise and sunset when the colour pigment is at its prime. These are then kept in the shade to go through fermentation for a few days and then carried to the distillery for extraction of Patchouli Essential Oil 50ml by the steam distillation process.
