Bucephalandra Aquatic Plants ( Bucephalandra spp.) Bucephalandra, often simply called "Buce," is one of the most sought-after aquatic plants in the aquascaping hobby. Native to the rivers and streams of Borneo, these beautiful rhizome plants are prized for their incredible variety of leaf shapes, textures, and colors. Depending on the variety, Bucephalandra can display shades of green, blue, purple, bronze, red, and even shimmering metallic hues that become especially vibrant under quality aquarium lighting. One of Bucephalandra's greatest attractions is its versatility and ease of care. Like Anubias and Java Fern, Buce is a rhizome plant that should be attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape rather than buried in the substrate. Once established, it develops a strong root system and creates a lush, natural appearance that enhances any aquascape.
