Cover Glass

A cover glass (also called a coverslip) is a very thin, flat piece of transparent glass or plastic used in microscopy. It is placed over a specimen on a microscope slide to protect the sample, flatten it for better viewing, and prevent the microscope's objective lens from coming into direct contact with the specimen. Cover glasses are typically square or rectangular and come in various thicknesses, usually around 0.13 to 0.17 millimeters. They are essential for producing clear, focused images under a microscope.
