Description This is a square cushion carrying the Strawberry Thief pattern, one of the best-known designs from the William Morris archive, worked here as a woven jacquard rather than a print. The front shows a tonal design of strawberry plants and paired birds, picked out in soft off-white against a warm linen-toned ground, so the pattern reads through texture and light rather than through strong colour contrast. The reverse is a plain, calm face in the same pale tone, and both sides are finished with a piped trim that runs around all four edges. The cover measures 55cm square.
