It has 3 thicker, vertical, square rods at both ends and in the middle, and 26 thinner square and twisted vertical spindles in between. There are several, thinner, S-shaped pieces for decoration. Since the piece is so long and symmetrical, you could actually cut the piece in the half, and weld a 1" thick vertical post onto the piece you cut off to form 2 separate, matching handrails. Unlike modern, hollow handrails, you could feel the strength and weight of this piece as soon as you grab it.
