"Rainbow Friends" Vintage Michiyuki

This listing is for a vintage michiyuki jacket, meant to be worn over a kimono. A square neckline, inner ties to keep the hemline straight, snap closure, and a hidden pocket on the right front panel are the specific features of a michiyuki - michi means "street" and yuki refers to "going out". Pine (longevity), bamboo (resilience), and plum blossom (hope) - the Three Friends of Winter that we often see in Japanese artwork. When combined, these three motifs symbolize overcoming a hard winter and making a new fresh start in Spring. Beautifully rich colors - green, purple, blue, yellow, and red - alternate in horizontal layers along with the stenciled repeated elements. This jacket certainly would catch attention whether it's worn or displayed! Hidden pocket in the front - perfect to hold glasses keys, or other light items.
