Miani Rosso Friuli Colli Orientali 2022

Miani is a small-scale, highly regarded estate in the hills of the Colli Orientali DOC in northeastern Italy, run by winemaker Enzo Pontoni. The vineyards, scattered on slopes at roughly 100–300 m altitude are farmed with low yields and great care, often leaving only a couple of bunches per vine in green-harvest, to concentrate flavour rather than maximise volume. Miani is widely considered one of Italy’s best producers of white wines, known for creating wines of depth and texture while maintaining balance and finesse rather than heaviness. Made from a blend of grapes, including local and international varieties which are vinified at Miani in Buttrio, and matured for two years in French oak before release. Rich, layered aromas of dark berries like blackberry and plum, but also wild red fruits, cherry and hints of bramble. Beneath the fruit lies a gentle herbal and vegetal undercurrent, with touches of dried flowers, clove and warm spices that add complexity and depth.
