Algae Blenny

A mottled brown blenny with a blunt comical face and constantly moving eyes, sold as a working algae grazer. Full of character, and dependent on there being algae to eat. Feeding Grazes filamentous algae from rock and glass. Once the tank is clean it must be fed - dried algae sheets, spirulina pellets and vegetable-based frozen foods. Compatibility Reef safe and peaceful toward other species, though territorial with other blennies. Keep one per tank unless it is large. Behaviour and personality Perches on rock and glass, propped on its pectoral fins, then hops between vantage points. Constantly scanning with independently moving eyes. Before you buy This is the important part: it is bought to clear algae, clears it, and then slowly starves in a spotless tank. Plan to feed it deliberately from the outset. Needs a mature tank with established rock, not a new setup.
