A talented landscape painter and printmaker. His subjects include panoramic landscapes, architectural views, naval and military subjects. He lived and worked in London for Day & Son a major British lithographic firm A very finely painted 19th century English watercolour by the well listed artist Joseph Needham (c.1810-1880). The scene depicts an old woodland landscape. The fine brushstrokes and panoramic composition is typical of Needham's painterly style. It is clear the artist felt a deep connection with the British landscape in this romantic view of the English countryside.
