Blue Electric Guitar Ornament

A guitar ornament has to survive comparison with the most photographed object in music, and this one does it in blue: a mouth-blown electric body with a painted pickguard, strings scored in fine silver lines, tuning pegs dotted along the headstock, the whole finish layered until the blue reads electric rather than merely colored. The hanging loop is set at the headstock, so the body hangs at a slight, deliberate lean, and the painted hardware stays legible from across a room. My colleague Petra owns three guitars and can play one of them, a ratio she defends as aspirational inventory. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame runs on an annual argument — who gets in, who was robbed, ballots defended like dissertations — and a blue electric guitar on a Christmas tree is a small entry in the same debate: somebody in the family will contest it, and it will hang there anyway, inducted.
