Sushi Board Ornament

The Sushi Platter Ornament is a served board of glass sushi, rolls and nigiri arranged in two rows with a pair of chopsticks laid across the near edge. Nothing on it is stamped. Every element is placed and painted on its own, which is why the rice reads as grains and the fish reads as fish instead of as a pink smear. The board runs five inches tall overall, wears its cap and loop at the top corner, and hangs square to the room rather than pitching forward. My friend Imogen orders for the entire table without consulting anyone at it and has yet to be wrong, which is somehow harder to forgive than if she were. She files this under generosity. TIFF built its name on work that lands before anyone translates it, and this board does the same trick from four feet away, in whichever language you happen to think in.
